Well it's not a knife but it is as sharp as one.:rockwoot:
I ordered this a few weeks ago and have been anxiously awaiting its arrival and it finally showed up this afternoon. I haven't had time to take her out and do some chopping yet but the initial impression is great. Super nice grain on the handle and shaving sharp straight out of the package. I love the swell at the end of the handle to keep it from sliding in your hands while swinging. Seems like it will get a lot of use especially while camping.
Gransfors Burks AB Small Forest Axe
" The blade is thin. The handle is long enough to allow powerful chopping but not too long so it will fit into a rucksack, the back of a car or a boat. Practical for splitting small sticks for the fire or cutting small-diameter limbwood for starter fuel in a fireplace." Should also be great for chopping small to medium size logs for firewood at camp.
The axe has a 3 1/4" face and a 19" hickory handle and the head weighs 1 1/2 lbs.
    On to a few pics

I usually don't like knives endorsed by some tv survival show guru, but watching Surviorman growing up is kind of what introduced me to the concept of self reliance. Plus the Temagami is one of the only full tang Helle knives. Really think I'm going to like it, and love how curly the birch is on this one.

It's not very pretty. This was my great-grandfather's. passed to my Grandfather, then to my father, and then to me. I'm 39.

Hollinger is the only stamp on it. According to my research, Hollinger was an Ohio cutlery company in business from 1906-1958. So the minimum age is 55 years old. Like I said, it's not pretty, but it's razor sharp and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It goes everywhere I do.

    Thanks.

It's the only fixed blade I have outside of kitchen knives. I've never needed another one. I have been starting to look at another though. It's time to pass it down soon. My son is at the age where he'll get the hunting tools. The Model 94 and this blade. The 94 was passed to me as well and it will be his when his first hunt comes around. I've been looking this board over to see recommendations for blades as I've never even considered another knife, so I don't know what's good in all honesty.

Stopped by and met Sheila and Brad today. Really nice folks. I had intended to buy a ESEE LaserStrike but ended up with this. A Spyderco Caly 3 I really like it.

    Nice score Faine and Rkwhyte2.
I saw this one come up for sale and just couldn't resist. I passed on one I really liked a few months ago and decided to jump one this one even though I probably shouldn't have with my twins due date only a month away. Anyway I did and here she is.
