So, what is the benefit of this can over the Kestrel 9?
The .308 supports 308, 300BLK, 7.62x39, the Kestrel 9 supports those plus 9mm, and is 3oz lighter, and 1in shorter.
Are they fitting one more baffle in that 1in of extra length on the 308 version? If so, what kind of real world difference would one additional baffle make?

I'm asking all this because the Kestrel 9 is looking like a great "do-it-all" can!

From my understanding the kestrel 9 only works for subsonic 300blk and not .308. Supersonic 300blk not to mention .308 is not supported.

    From the Huntertown website: Link!
"The Kestrel 9 was designed for 9mm and .30 caliber applications up to .308."

I believe you are thinking of the Guardian 9.

It is intended for subsonic ammo in that range. The Kestrel 308 will do the supers as well.

Yup, I was. Thanks for clarifying. Would like to see the correct answer to your question :-p.

I've emailed them to double check... With the Guardian 9 they outlined in the specs subsonic only for 300BLK, but with the Kestrel's it just lists them without a qualifier sub vs super.

and ZbornacSVT, it's not that I don't believe you, but if it's true, they should put that in the specs!

There was a change to the Kestrel 9, I will make sure the web site is changed today so that it answers all your questions.
