I wonder if they were FA?

That would be a safe bet.

This is not uncommon. Tens of millions of AKs disappeared after the break up of the USSR. This does not include the millions missing from DDR, Poland, Hungary, Romania, inter alia.

Armenian gun running networks stretch throughout the Russian Federation.

...Right. He just so happened to find 79 Kalashnikovs. Not 80...

If the guy had any brains he would've taken a multiple of 5. ;)

Why would it matter if any AK47 was SA or FA? My understanding is it takes a double shear, a tie wrap and 20 seconds to mod one.

I wonder if this was a mob gun buy gone bad. I imagine someone was paid to pack them that way and they would have been pulled at the dump but the deal got screwed up when the truck driver tried to make a couple of bucks.

They would have looked so nice in my basement. I would have happily given them a good home where they would have been taken care of. I would have made a special rack for them. Maybe shared them with a few friends and family that would have appreciated them as well.
