No not yet!! just not ready to replace Ruby.she was such a smart dog, I spent allot of time with her and trained her well when she was a puppy, she was kinda like my kid all I had to do is talk to her and she would do anything I asked of her, great friend and a great protector for our home!! :)

Don't think of a new one as a replacement...Nothing will ever replace her, but a new puppy might be able to ease the pain a bit.

One of the main reasons I got a new puppy before my 13 year old's time is up, is so I don't relate Zeus' death to my new puppy's beginning.

How old was Ruby when she had to be put down?

Me and our Rott Schmek...he loved to ride in the bucket of the tractor on the trailer in the truck and even on the Mower...We had to have him put down 3 months ago due to cancer. He also loved to shake your hand everytime you came home.

My 8year old AKC registered Golden Retriever, Ranger. To smart for his own good, and even at 8 years old he has the energy of a pup (which is both good and bad :)).

Here's a recent pic of my lab Caesar. Some d-bag shot him with most likely a .22 and it broke his femur. This happened on the 18th. He is currently a house dog while he heals. He is quickly becoming spoiled and is impoving on a daily basis.

This shows the pin they used to set the femur. It will get removed at a later time.

Stitches will come out this Friday. You can see the bullet hole below them.

He's too smart and figured out how to get out of his collar (not an easy task). Someone did not like him running around I guess.

    Is he violent or destructive?

I guess I'm having a hard time fathoming why anyone would shoot a (domesticated)lab running around; generally, they pose about zero threat of someone getting bitten.

    Shoo him away? Sure.

Maybe one pump from a BB gun to the rear end(I wouldn't, but it wouldn't cause harm)?

But to shoot a dog with a firearm for wandering around? Ridiculous.

BTW, mik1202002 that is one FAT Rotty.:):

She was 10, still had alot of life in her but had cancer, I couldn't let her suffer just because I wasn't ready for her to go!!

And if it was up to me I would have had a pup already, but the wife don't want one right now!!.

This is Skyy. 9 yrs old. My husband and I got her from a Shelter when we first moved in together. This is camping on an island right off the East Coast of Florida. She was 8 wks old when we got her and *I* trained her. Best dog out there.

This is Sammy. AKA, Sam-I-Am or Sammy Red Beard. Showed up on our step 8 years back starving with ice hanging off her face. She's a good dog but not trained.
