Launch multiple CS gas canisters. I bet that would work for the majority.
I'd be all for none lethal deterrence. However i have a feeling they would just use children as their shields like many 3rd world countries seems to do.
Then what should be done? I don't think we should harm children that are not old enough to reason right from wrong.

I'd be fine with anyone seen using a child as a shield being tagged by the Border Patrol, Texas Rangers or State Police, County Sheriff, local PD or any American for that matter, with a nice high velocity rifle round through the first kneecap they expose. They'll have nothing but pain to occupy their minds at that point and a lengthy reminder not to be a bad human being.
