I guess the OP assumes that somehow only Republicans can be INGO members/gun owners? :dunno:
First, if I had to pick one for the majority of INGO Republican would be my guess. However, other options would include independent, libertarian, green party, socialist party...

I see people wearing stock belts with no doors every day and I can't understand what they are thinking.
I'd imagine they've assessed the risk and found it to be minimal. "I don't plan on getting into an accident today (or ever) and therefore I won't be replacing the seatbelts on my Jeep." It's a lot like those of us who carry only one gun and one mag. "This is probably enough for anything I can reasonably expect to happen today."

Sure, we can carry two, three, four guns (and god knows how many mags) but is it really necessary? Jeeps come with doors on them. Is taking them off really necessary?

All this stuff is "what if" in nature and there's really no right answer. Plus, the right answer for one of us may be the wrong answer for someone else.

We can make some sweeping generalizations about folks who carry guns and folks who drive Jeeps (I drive one as well... with doors and an AK in the trunk) but we all have different assessments and methods of risk mitigation. That should be pretty easy to understand. And possibly wrong!

    • You are 21 or older, wear your seatbelt and lock your car doors while driving. Yes, and doors lock automatically.
    • Your primary reason for owning firearms is defense. No, I enjoy shooting, defense is a by product of my hobby.
    • You own 5 or more firearms. Oh yes, many more than 5.
    • You are not a Democrat. Hell no I ain't
    • When you carry, you usually CC a medium frame (or larger) handgun in 9/40/45. No I primary carry a J frame.
    • When you carry a spare mag (and you usually do), the bullets face forward. I carry 5 spares in a speed strip.
    • You carry with one in the chamber. I carry with all 5 chambers loaded.
    • You do not carry a tertiary (i.e. third) gun. I carry 1, hard to conceal a riot gun.

    5 of 8 I guess.

I must have missed what this was testing, but there seems to be a lot of pride in scoring higher. I got the not Democrat, more than 5 guns, and no 3rd gun. Score of 3.

Testing defensive preparedness? Who is prepared for armageddon? How far does your paranoia reach?

I guess it is about INGO members and their habits. I kinda liked it. We have a lot of prepared folks out there.

My doors lock when I put it in drive but I would lock the anyway.

I caught that also. If they didn't lock automatically, I might or I might not. I never drive without seatbelts (although I strongly disagree with a law that requires it).

As far as the Democrat thing, I'm not sure what that means. I've voted Democrat before, does that make me a Democrat? I've bowled a lot more than I've voted Democrat and nobody's ever called me a bowler.

I passed the five gun mark by the time I was, like, 13 years old, though some of those were shared with my brother.

I got my first LTCH in 1990 and, to date, I've never carried a handgun on my person anywhere except the range. I do carry sometimes on my place, and I've many times taken a gun with me in the car. Someday, I probably will start to CC, but I'm not sure when that will be. I guess I'd have to find myself going around in places that seem more dangerous than the places I mostly go before I'd consider carrying more than one gun, but I respect that other people like the feeling of preparedness.

Hadn't thought about this thread much in a while. It was just a fun poll to see how close a "profile" of INGO folks might be to the mark.

Looks like it was a pretty good prediction.

    Own firearms for defense?

No idea, I've owned firearms since the age of 8, that was back in 1950. I think I had them for hunting & target practice, been so long ago I really can't remember.

CC/ at times, other times No. All depends what time of year it is.
