Im trying to install a free float handguard on an ar 15. I dont have a vice or vice block. Is it even possible to remove the flash hider and barrel nut with out them..? I have been trying to get the flash hider off for about ten minutes now and it wont budge... Any one got any advice..?
I assume you are using some sort of locking wrench. Put a pipe over the wrench as small a diameter that will fit. You now have a simple machine aka the lever. This will allow you to exert much more force with less effort. The longer the lever the easier it will be. Not ideal but I assure you it will work. You may need a partner. It's ugly but a field expedient method I have used with no issues. Hope this helps.
It really may be a moot point... While I was waiting for a response I attempted to knock out the pins holding the front sight on, the front one came out with little effort, but when I tried to remove the rear one the punch began driving it self into the pin.
