Ah but the news is not balanced by any stretch of the imagination. If C8 was a credible news organization they would have contacted an expert first instead of jumping to conclusions. The officer might have been wrong. He also might not have been wrong. Just because C8 decides to do the story does not mean the officer was wrong. The policing business can be ugly. Many people don't want to see ugly...it makes them feel bad.

As for the throw the happened outside, sure it needs to be explained. And it just might be. The point with all of this jazz is no one here was there. We don't know what all happened. But that doesn't keep many people from jumping all over the "lets hang the officer" band wagon.

I'm not defending the media. No doubt they twist things up more often then not. However, they did go to an expert. Is the chief of police not an expert on these matters? Is having Internal Affairs officer view the tape and the filed report not going to an expert? Following up afterwards by a second story with another expert that made a weak defense of the first slam and no defense of the second. I believe several experts have viewed this and none of them have given a coherent excusable reason for this use of force.

When video surfaces of a flash mob breaking out and running through stores, should we reserve judgment as maybe these youths were running into the store for a good reason? Sometimes, the video evidence is exactly what it looks like. This guy did not lay hands on anyone. He used his words. The officer should've done the same. He deserves to lose his job over this. Isn't it illegal to make false statements in an official police report?
