Sucks! I don't carry my EDC off of my person so i can't understand "forgetting" it. It was her job to know the laws no matter how ridiculous they are.

Agreed- especially when entering a government building and knowingly going through a security checkpoint. Tough to use your gun for self defense when you don't know it's there.

Yeah...her fault definitely! Chicago is infamous for its gun control laws. Besides that....she should get a ticket for alternating ammo! (j/k)

Add me to the majority. It is her fault completely!

    1) Never alternate ammo
    2) it's a court building that is no go place even in Indiana.
    3) I have never forgotten that I am carrying.

Well I'm glad all you Dudley Do Rights never forget or make a mistake.
Living next to Commie Noise (Illinois) I know several people that have either missed the last Indiana exit, or just plain forgot that an arbitrary imaginary line made them a dangerous person, and that they didn't still need defense.

Yep, lots of fail going on.

    1) Chicago's (and ALL of Illinois') gun laws
    2) "Forgetting" you have a gun (really?)
    3) Trying to carry into a courthouse (can't do that in Whiting, either)
    4) Mixing ammo (people actually do that?)
    5) PLEASE tell me she had a purse-holster, and it wasn't loose in there.

Well, at least she was already in the courthouse. Didn't have to walk far for her OWN hearing.

My philosophy is that I want the best defensive round I can get with every shot. I can't predict that I will want what FMJ brings to the table (if anything useful) and I certainly can't predict which shot in a string it would be best for, versus a HP.

Why is mixing ammo (ie. FMJ, HP, lead reloads) a bad thing?
Does it deal with relability issues?
Predictability and reliability, at least for me.

Once I find a round (or set of rounds, as the case may be) that works every time, then I stick to it. I don't even like to mix brands of HP in the same mag. It isn't necessarily about actual reliability, but perceived/potential reliability.

Same with predictability. I want the same performance every time. I certainly don't want to "count rounds" to know if the next will go through cover, and the one after may not.

I can't think of a good reason to intentionally mix rounds.

When you say alternating ammo are you referring to the HP and FMJ rounds? The reason I ask is cause I have 15 (gifted by a friend) 9mm Hydroshocks and a box of 50 Federal HPs. I just bought the box of Federal on Saturday.

I have a Hi-power with a 17 and a 10 round mag. I put 10 Hydroshocks in the 10 round mag and put 12 of the Federals in my 17 and the last 5 Hydroshocks, so the Hydroshocks come out first.

    Is that bad?

Maybe she was sensing that the IL gov't was loosening up on the conceal/carry.

Kidding aside, that's a tough lesson that needs to be seen by many.

She is screwed. Epic fail on her part. All the way around! I have no sympathy for her. Personally I don't understand the purse carrying. It slows your access to your weapon. Plus it is not safely stored or carried IMHO

Nobody posted above you saying that they were perfect :dunno:. This is a big mistake unlike forgetting about water boiling on a stove. In my opinion carrying a firearm comes with elevated responsibilities and as an adult you are responsible for your education of the law in regards to carrying. :twocents:
