I know since moving here I've been sorely disappointed.

Pizza isn't that great, subs are really lacking, next to impossible to find a beef on weck, and don't get me started on what passes for chicken wings around here.

BBQ is definitely a strength out here though.

What style of pizza do you like, and where are you located? There are TONS of great Pizza joints in Indy..

All my kraut brethren musta packed up and moved on me. Hard to find good schnitzel and spaetzle up here.:(

Oh, and for those of you that think the pork tenderloin was invented in Indiana, google wiener schnitzel or the more technically correct wiener schnitzel vom schwein.:D

Uh.. yes and no.. wiener schnitzel BECAME the "Tenderloin Sandwich" in the midwest, due to the influence of German immigrants..

As for bubble tea, you might have to go to some place and buy the ingredients to make your own.

Saigon Restaurant on 38th near Lafayette does a good bubble tea. The food is decent but not great.

If you haven't eaten at Bluebeard in Fletcher Place, you are missing some of the best food in the country.

    Wow, holy thread revival Batman.

Mug n Bun out near Speedway is Americana at its finest. You'll punch a baby for another mug of their root beer. Tata's Cuban Cafe in downtown Indy is worth the trip.

Stoll's Lakeview Restaurant down in Loogootee is an incredible Amish buffet, although they have made some concessions to the modern world over the years. They serve soda now, for example, when I first started going it was milk, tea, lemonade, or water for their cold drinks. If you don't eat your body weight in fried chicken, you did it wrong.

Speaking of Stoll's Buffet. We will stop at the Gasthaus Village in Montgomery for lunch if we are in the area. Chow is good, Pie Choices are excellent and the price is right. Try to avoid the festival days as the tour buses pack the place.

Speaking of Buffets, Paula Deens at the Horseshoe Riverboat Casino near New Albany, does a great job on both the Seafood night (Friday) and their Sunday Brunch. The Prime Rib is cut to order ( I like it an inch or so thick) and they have many flavors of Oysters grilled, raw. or fried along with a ton of other choices hot and cold.. Costly for this area at $30 +/-, but a real treat.

I sure as hell hope you aren't referring to that crap they call a breaded tenderloin. McDonalds grade beef would be a higher quality standard than the pork fritter they serve is compared to a true pork loin. It's like a hot dog grade of pork.

It may be a Dubois county thing, but I haven't found a place yet that has better chicken hearts than Fleigs Cafe/Bar in Ferdinand, IN.

That's like going to a steak house and ordering the fish. Get a burger or hot dog, sweet potato fries or onion rings, and root beer.

My wife and I found ONE place that had better root beer, but it's in Tulsa, OK. :):

I say that because no matter the vote for the #1 tenderloin, that place is always in the top 10. I believe they were known to serve great tenderloins decades ago but the myth of them having great tenderloin continues to this day.

Just read a rave review of a place called Tick Tock Lounge on E 10th St in Indy. Apparently they hand cut, hand bread, and fry your Tenderloin when you order it.

The review came from the famous Papa Roux himself, so it's gotta be good!

There's a lot to be said for the Root Beer at XXX in Lafayette.
The homemade root beer at the Triple X is fantastic!. They also bottle it and sell it in either 4 or 6 packs so you can take some home. Jack Ehresman told me that when Purdue has a home football game they go through 200 lbs. of Ground Sirloin in 1 day. I think I just figured out where I'm going for dinner Saturday night!

A 4am breakfast or burger at Tri Chi is the staple of every drunken Purdue student at some point. Good stuff.

I don't remember the names, but one has peanut butter. I opt for the burger with grilled onions and add peanut butter to it.

Forgop- We time our stops at Nick's to a short side detour as we pass thru that part of Indiana on I-69 coming or going to visit family trapped in the "Great White North" (Michigan)
