I applied for my lifetime personal protection less than 1 month ago and got it in the mail yesterday. Despite being told that it would take about 3 months to get it approved by local gov. and then have it sent to the state. Is this common? I've heard it takes a long time to get a handgun permit but mine took only 2.5 weeks.

Also, I made copies of the permit for my records. How should I actually carry the pink permit? Can I cut out the card from the paper? I'm going to laminate it regardless.

yes, cut the card out, sign it, laminate it, and carry it on your person all the time.

Sounds like they may be catching up. I applied in late April and didn't receive my license until mid-June. Almost 7 weeks........

I will add that I read on this site somewhere, that another member had copies made on the same color and weight paper. Several to a page IIRC, so if one was destroyed, he had another on hand.

Credit goes to the originator of this idea, I am just passing it along!

Sorry in advance for the sour sarcasm I'm about to throw at you. I've been reading really annoying threads for the last three hours.

    So here goes:

INGO has a FAQ! It even addresses what to do with your LTCH once you receive it!
    https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...16185-ingunowners_faqs_sticky.html#post187167
Some tips once your LTCH arrives:
    In this order:
    1) Make copies. If you can, scan it and save it to your computer.
    2) Store the original in your safe.
    3) Sign each of your copies.
    4) Laminate each of your copies.
    5) Have one EVERYWHERE.
    6) SIGN BEFORE YOU LAMINATE.
    https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/carry_..._was_told.html
One of our members, Printcraft, is offering free LTCH lamination to members of INGO: https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/carry_...o_members.html

So am I really allowed to make a copy of my LTCH?
Technically... No. But you still may find this thread interesting. Cordex actually ASKED the people who should know!

And FTR.. I'm impressed that you received your LTCH in just a few weeks, too. Way to go! and Congratulations! :)
