Personal preference is black/parkerized finish in wood or black plastic. It hides the soot, dirt, oil stains that accumulate after many rounds down range.
If owning a "pretty gun" will get people to purchase a firearm and shoot, then I am all for it. The firearms community needs new people to join our ranks.
