I have driven to Texas several times. I carry and have gone for hog hunting as well.
I go to Nashville, catch I-40 to Little Rock, Pick I-30 all the way into Texas.
Where I go, from my house is about a 14 hour drive, and can be made in less time if you don't stop except for gas.
But an overnight stop makes a great trip.
From Indy, it would be maybe 15 hours. And you can CC all the way with no issues.
Just an alternative. Not sure, I guess you are going through Missouri and Oklahoma.

I checked from Fort Wayne...and it increases the trip only 40 miles to bypass Illinois all together...well worth it. And that goes straight through Indy which is where you are located.

Go to mapquest.com and type in the start and stop cities for your trip. It will give the shortest route. You can drag a point across the map to bypass IL...see how much distance that adds to your trip. Well worth it to avoid commie territory IMO.
