If and a Big IF I would go with .38 super.....

I own a 1911 in .45 SS Springfield TM and I can't say enough about her.
Though you were looking else where if you don't own a 1911 go with the .45 first and then look else where for a second one.....:D

    Has anyone shot a 1911 in .357Sig?

I haven't. I've never heard of one being made other than custom guns or conversions.

If you want those ballistics, go with .38 super or even better 9x23mm. You'll get at least one more round in the gun and it's likely to be a lot more reliable.

I would like to try one in .38 super sometime. I hear really great things about that cartridge, other than availability of course.
this, i've wanted one for a long time, actually "Indy trading post" has one they won't sell. Something about being a collector and it's in a private collection, i hate that but love that gun.

I've got a couple Supers and like them quite a bit. I was just curious about the Sig round, it's a new favorite of mine.

    Has anyone shot a 1911 in .357Sig?

That'd be a pretty neat concept.

But, if you're running a 40 cal case and have the length in the frame, might as well do full on 10mm.

9x23 is such a neat cartridge. i wish it'd catch on.
