Yeah, but your gun could get up and kill someone while you're at work and you might never know it. These guns need to be locked away or destroyed. It's the only way we can be safe from them.

Not True My Friend. This site Assault Weapons has had a gun live on video cam 24's a day since the expiration of the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban. And to date no spontaneous acts of violence. Thus proving it needs another component to be dangerous, a person....
On a much larger scale here...
Take as an example Post WWI Germany. Because of the atrocities and violence associated with a world war. The world as a whole at the time forbid/ banned Germany from having weapons of war of an offensive nature. They were only allowed defensive weapons. I think they were allowed to issue German soldiers a sling and 9 stones (lol). The world went to a much more tranquil state with the banning of weapons. Unbeknowst to they world the Outlaws ( Nazi 3rd Reich) were building and stockpiling weapons that would cause a holocaust the likes of which the world had never seen. One night out of the blue they robbed and raped their beautiful neighbor France and began killing millions of the Jews...
Weapons in the Post WWII modern world is a lot like playing texas hold em. You play the hadn of the guy across from you... Plan and prepare for what he has.... and worst case scenario is that he has an assault rifle so you need one as well....
