IDPA, CDP, 1911. How many mags?

Just to shake things up tomorrow I'm going to shoot my 1911. Never shot CDP in IDPA. How many mags/holders do you 1911 guys run typically?

For CDP:
8.1.4.1 Shooters starting with 8 or more rounds in all loading devices are allowed to start with the loaded
firearm plus two additional loading devices.
8.1.4.2 Shooters starting with 6 or 7 rounds in all loading devices are allowed to start with the loaded
firearm plus three additional loading devices.

For IDPA you're gonna be limited to 2 - 8 round mags on the belt. I think as the capacity goes down you can get another, but unless I'm wrong I think it starts at 6 rounds. With 6 round mags I think you can add a 3rd mag to the belt.

Thanks. I was thinking due to some of the longer CoFs it might take/require a third since I am down 2 per mag compared to SSP/ESP. I must be mistaken.

Sometimes you see people run out, but not often. Usually only happens if you have extremely tough shots at steel.

You start with an 8 round mag in the gun Plus 1 round in the barrel. Then you can have 2, 8 round mags on your belt. It is legal to have your barney mag in your pocket so that you can get to division capacity to start the stage.
