My father-in-law just surprised me today and I have to share it with everyone. He was telling me of a story at the range today. He stated that when he was a child his Grandmother gave him a .22 rifle. I asked him when we got home to show it to me. When we got there he pulled from the back of his closet a Remington Model 12-A rifle. It was in Great condition and I asked if it still fired. He stated that about 20 years ago the firing pin broke. I told him to let me bring it home and I would find out info on it and see if I can get the parts to repair it. Well as I am sure most of you know the Model 12 was about the most popular they made and lots of parts are available. I then wanted to find the build date and that is what made me smile from ear to ear like a kid on Christmas morning. It was built in November of 1928. I have in my hands a rifle that is 84 years and 3 months old a true piece of history. This is why I love my passion and will never stop looking for treasures. I cannot wait till the part arrives and I get to shot a piece of HISTORY. Just had to share my smile to you all.
UPDATE: Just talked to my Father-in-law and told him the info I have found out about this rifle. He had no idea it was that old. I also had time last night to break it down and find the broken parts. I have ordered them and expect them in 3-5 business days. I cannot wait to get it fixed and back in his hands to shoot once again like he did so many years ago.
