I fail to see why soliciting a monetary payment not to reveal embarassing information about a presidential candidate wasn't/isn't blackmail

Has it been established that she solicited hush payment? It is possible that the Trump campaign started offering money to women with stories to tell without any solicitation on the women's part. They may have just agreed not to talk about their Donald experiences and never made any threat to talk if not paid.

How is it blackmail if the person the revealing information is about claims they knew nothing of the interaction? They can't play both sides. If I have dirt on somebody, and tell their friend I might want some money to stay quiet. If the person never knows I asked for money, and the friend takes it upon themselves to pay me off, how is that blackmail?
And for the record there is no indication that Daniels ever asked for money.

I'm more inclined to accept the "breech of contract" than blackmail avenue. They signed their names on the deals, they should be bound by it

Stormi Daniels and her lawyer have proven themselves to be quite the capable team. Crappy tactics, certainly, but they are accomplishing exactly what they intended.

ETA: We could accuse her of collusion, that seems to have a very low standard of required proof
