My nephew and his wife are headed to SC just a county away from Chimney Rock, NC.
They loaded up their pickup with supplies. Full size F150 to take to those in need.
They are taking a few days leave to do it. They are stationed at Kessler.
This is a picture of some of the stuff they bought.

I haven't heard from them since yesterday. They were to arrive in the disaster area. So no doubt no cellphone coverage.

Have a high school friend (I graduated long ago) who is a lineman and does some storm repairs after disasters. He called me this week and this storm has him disturbed. I believe he works as a sub contractor for Duke energy.

So far they have recovered two bodies from the trees and they found a five year old girl wandering the area with no adults/family to be found.

He said this may be his last disaster repair stint. Maybe ice storm repair or tornado but he said no more major stuff like this for sure. He said the money and OT pay (unlimited work) is not worth the PTSD he is experiencing.

I don't know about y'all but seeing the refusal of delivered supplies boils my blood. Would anyone else like to join me next week sometime in doing an armed militia supply escort?
