I cant remember were I got that info from but whos rite and whos wrong?

I'm gonna say you are wrong. I think the only time magazine capacity is restricted is when dealing with waterfowl.

but I could be wrong, so I'm curious what others will say as well.

There is no magazine capacity limitation for hunting predators or small game in IN.

The only game with magazine capacity limitations are federally protected species such as waterfowl and doves. I would not recommend hunting them with a rifle.

So we've learned here that "I heard it somewhere" and "I seem to recall" aren't the greatest sources of facts for us.

3rd. limit in shotguns for Quail? Please cite your reference.

    Magazine Plugs
When hunting for migratory game birds
and waterfowl (i.e., doves, ducks, geese,
woodcock, etc.), it is illegal to use a shotgun
capable of holding more than three shells,
unless it is plugged with a one-piece filler
that is incapable of being removed without
    disassembling the gun.
There are no restrictions on magazine

capacity for hunting of any other species.

Can be found here -> http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/files/fw-hg_generalinfo.pdf

Page 6, middle column. Look for heading "Magazine Plugs"

just says "migratory game birds and waterfowl" so not sure about Quail. I'm not familiar with them.

there is a capacity restriction when hunting on military or proving grounds for any game. it was 5 rds for shotgun when we hunted jefferson proving grounds in southern indiana. I believe its that was universally nation wide

I seem to recall, I heard it somewhere that sometimes I can't seem to recall what I heard somewhere. And that IS a fact ! :dunno:

In Indiana, the ONLY thing that requires a round capacity limit are waterfowl and doves.

    That's it.

No matter the game or the firearm.

Want to hunt quail with your Saiga and drum magazine? Have at it.

Squirrel with your 100rd drum on your 10/22? Have at it.

20-rd magazine for your .458 AR? 100% legal.
