    I have the fix.

Step 1: Get a Sharpie marker.
    Step 2: put on pants.
Step 3: Put on belt with horrid scratch.
Step 4: Take Sharpie and hold the tip against your pants on the opposite side of the body away from the scratches for 1 minute.

Now everyone will be staring at the ink stain, and wont even notice the scratches.

    You're welcome.

I think I'll just hire <insert unattractive INGO member's name here> to always stand to my left.

I would suggest try any experimental procedures(steam of dye) on the inside of the belt. If feeling ballsy you could reproduce the scratch on the inside to give a test area.

...I would try putting mink oil(on the whole belt maybe) on just the scratch as it'll help with it, but it does change color where it's applied and darkens greatly. .

You spelled vitamink wrong, but I like where your head is at!

Once leather has been dyed a sealant is usually used and you won't be able to re-dye it. You can use shoe polish as stated on effected area then treat the entire area with neat foot oil or a conditioner with beeswax in it for a uniform color. Tandy Leather or Landwerlin Leather in Indianapolis is a good source for leather, supplies, and advise.

Not sure it would fix your problem or not. I find it handy to keep a few brown Sharpies around for various small dieing projects. Most recent project was to "brown out" the camo on some otherwise cool Merrell shoes.

    .
I have a quick fix that's easy to do and it won't cost you a thing.
When you're done, absolutely nobody will be looking at your belt. :):
