Ok folks here is a kind of step by step on how to buy M-1 Garands through the CMP.
It used to be kind of a lengthy process....nowadays' it is very simple.

Things you will need:
1. Drivers License
2. U.S. Birth Certificate
3. Indiana Handgun License (simply put) or DD214/Military ID
4. Proof of affiliation in an approved club; Garand Collectors Association is an easy one $25 a year link:

The way I did it:
1. Printed and filled out GCA membership form and sent it in.
2. Printed CMP order form.
3. Filled out and signed in front of a Indiana Public Notary (banks will have public notaries)
4. Included photo copies of: US Birth certificate, Driver License, GCA membership card and Indiana LTCH.
5. Mailed in order form and with personal check
6. Received my precious Garand!! (took about 30 days total)
H&R service grade $595 (Rack grades can be had for $495):
