My method:

1. Lure cat into a suitable strong sack or bag containing a tasty treat and something really heavy like a bowling ball or some bricks.

2. Close sack/bag as soon as cat is inside, or nearly inside.

3. Proceed to nearest deep body of water.

4. Insert sack/bag into water.

5. Leave.
