This guy's been suspended 14 times. Why does he still have a job? In the real, (non-government job) world he would've been axed ages ago. Is Ft. Wayne really that desperate for warm bodies? Wow. The departments around here are, by all reports I've seen, much less forgiving. Thank goodness. This guy's just an embarrassment.

    From Indiana News Centre

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Officer Scott Morales is walking on thin ice after his latest violation. Police Chief Rusty York says he suspended Morales for five days without pay for problems with "alertness on duty."
"It resulted from him not being at his post for an assigned time within the building," explained York. The incident took place in January while Morales was working the third shift York told Indiana's News Center.
York says Morales wandered away from his post to another part of the building. While the offense may not be a major one, it further tarnished the record of the 19-year veteran, who has now been suspended for the 14th time since 1991.
Morales' last suspension was in February, after he was accused of inappropriately using a taser on an individual who was already handcuffed. He received a three-day unpaid suspension for that incident.
Prior to that, Morales was accused of going absent without leave multiple times, being involved in several accidents with his police cruiser, falsifying reports, excessive force and searching a home without a warrant.
When asked why Morales has been allowed to keep his badge, York explained that discipline problems are handled with a "progressive system."

He's probably got dirt on someone with power or is kin to someone important in Ft. Wayne. If Ft. Wayne is anything like Indianapolis he's still got a job because the things he has been suspended for probably don't fall into the category of things he can be terminated for. He sounds like a real sh*tbird based on what he has done, and I'm sure he won't learn his lesson, since the first 13 suspensions didn't teach him anything.

No offense to LEO's but like anything else in life their are good ones and bad ones-seems like this one has over stayed his welcome!
Being in the medical field, I'd been put out to pasture-

Cant really understand why he has been given so many chances, but being public knowledge, it sure doesnt make the Ft. Wayne PD look to good.

He is a huge liability for that city. Both he and the city are going to get destroyed when he finally hurts someone and a civil suit is filed.

This officer should have been fired long ago. That being said, I do find it amusing that so many in the medical profession think that there is no "dead wood" in their field. Doctors and lawyers protect their own, sometimes to a ridiculous extent. There was a very recent case of a local ambulance driver under the influence of methadone wrecking an ambulance which resulted in the death of a patient. This driver had quite a history of similar problems. No profession is exempt from protecting the inept and lazy. Unions spend way too much money and time protecting these types.

He's struck again, and once more he's escaped the axe. He gets a 90 day unpaid vacation, but gets to keep his job. Sheesh!

    via WANE

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Board of Public Safety decided to suspend a Fort Wayne police officer for the fifteenth time Monday evening.
Scott Morales was given a 90 day without pay suspension and will be taken off street duty after using excessive force while transporting an unruly prisoner to Saint Joe Hospital.
Morales has been with the department for almost 20 years. In that time, he's already faced 22 allegations and 14 suspensions.
After learning his fate, Morales smiled as he walked out of the meeting with is son, but refused to comment.

Frank may well be right. It's either that or Ft. Wayne is just so incompetent that it beggars the imaginations.

I would want to see what each of the suspensions was for and what their contract says. Some departments hand out loads of 1 and 2 day suspensions for ridiculously minor things and others you really have to screw up just to get a day off. Sounds like he has some sort of inside connection if he has got that many though, especially stuff like the tazering incident. It's not always what a guy knows, sometimes it's who he knows.

I couldn't believe this when I read it this morning. When he returns from suspension he will be placed in the detective division to keep him away from the public. If you need to hide a police officer from the people he's supposed to serve, he needs to be let go.
