I don't trust machines. I probably will never need a gun, but if I do, I'm not going to die because I relied on a single machine that failed me and had no effective backup.

The list of excellent reasons to carry multiple guns is lengthy.

Being able to access a weapon with either hand demands more than one gun for some people as well.
