Oh man he threw his gun in water oh yes only an AK could possibly take that. What a tool. Remember ARs will implode if they touch water. Forming a black hole and releasing antimatter.

    That is just above wrong.

:dunno: why? Technically it is a way to get rid of the corrosive salts out of the firearm after you have fired corrosive ammo.

He perhaps should of used hot water and some soap in there but the method is sound, oh no?

At least from what I have read hot water + soap is one of the methods to clean when using corrosive ammo. The other being use an ammonia based solution (ie. windex) and spray the barrel (inside) and gun (insides) until you can properly clean the firearm when you get home. As the ammonia helps in displacing the corrosive salts that were left behind.

Isn't anyone else a little concerned that this man obviously has kids? Somehow cleaning your rifle in their pool seem a little off but then again urine also stops the corrosive salts. so maybe he's on to something.

From a chemistry stand-point, ammonia does NOTHING to hinder the chemical reaction of the formation of corrosive salts.

It doesn't hinder the formation reactions, and the salts aren't soluble in ammonia in any effective amounts.

Water is THE BEST solvent for the removal of the salts. Period.

The whole "windex" thing is an oft perpetuated myth. Besides, not all "windex" products even have ammonia. And if they did, it wouldn't be in any useful concentration. Glass cleaners are mostly water. It's the water that's effective.
