    So, out of curiosity, I decided to see how my internet speed compares to others'. Unfortunately, the website doesn't show detailed comparisons; hence this post.

    I don't put much stock in those speed tests. Run it 10 times and see what happens. Then run it all around the country and see what happens.

    For those of you with Comcast, RUN THIS TEST and see what it tells you.

    It's not the speed that is important, but the quality of service.

    Here is one that is a little more thorough.

    Yea i know havent been able to get mine over 6mb in over 10 tries yet...even all over the country. My average is 4-5.5mb out of all the tries...

    If you have cable your speed will depend on how many people around you have cable and how much bandwidth they are using.

    If you have DSL you speed will depend on how far you are away from the Fiber. And most DSL companies sell packages, so they will cap your bandwidth.
