How did you decide?

I am wanting to pull the trigger on putting on the GI strap and mounting hardware. So my question is how did you guys decide the placement for the screws for the sling mounts?

Sorry at the firehouse today, got a run earlier and just got back to this.

The sling and mounts are going on a wood stocked 10/22.

Rear mount 1" to 2" forward of the butt plate centered on bottom of stock.

Front mount - if carbine 1" aft of barrel clamp, if longer stock, determine position of support hand on fore stock and place mount 2" forward of hand centered on bottom of stock.
