If you don't see the differences between how conservatives act and how progressives act, there isn't any more we need discuss. Progressives aren't debating anything with us, they call us racists or sexists and try to cancel us due to our differences. Conservatives want debate and want to discuss issues on their merits. I label them my enemy because they have proven themselves to be such.

We (read: all people) need to stop casting such large nets.

Uniting the country from the top down will never work, no matter who is at the helm. It starts with us. Not just the other guy who is clearly the problem. You. Me. All of us. Unless we change the way we see each other and stop allowing ourselves to be polarized, it will not happen.

Snap, you make a good point, but I differ in how I see things. Any one of us, as individuals, if we look around at our little microcosm world, we're doing exactly what you say. I don't see my black, brown, yellow, gay, rich, or poor customers or acquaintances or friends any different than my white hetero ones. I'm sure you're the same way. Everyone I know is the same way. We're actually living just the way you say we should.

So where's the disconnect? I don't have the exact answer, but there is a movement to "fundamentally change America". It exists, and it is incompatible with my vision of America. More important, the liberal policies do not help the everyday lives of any Americans. Open borders, higher taxes, massive job-killing regulation does not help us common folks, yet I'm asked to compromise and accept that, in order to get along with my fellow man? It's not going to happen.

The last four years, with less taxes, both corporate and individual, started a boom economy that benefitted all Americans. It's actual proof that one theory of governing works better than the other theory of governing, yet the liberals will never acknowledge that reality. Instead, they dismiss the good results, keep pushing the socialist agenda, and work to divide us further.

Bottom line, we're talking two completely opposite, incompatible theories of governing. In my experience, conservatives just want to be left alone to pursue our life goals, and liberals want to, again, "fundamentally change America". And they will never, ever stop pushing.

I did not ask for this fight, but it keeps being shoved in my face, and eventually that's not going to end well.

So, you're trying to cancel them (i.e. flat discounting any chance of discussion) simply because of how you feel they act?

And again, there's people on the left with the exact same opinion of you. "You can't discuss the merits of an issue."

Have all progressives proven themselves to be as you say? Every one? Or just the vocal ones that make the news? We paint our political enemies with views of the worst of them.

I don't want others to assume I'm just like the Proud Boys, and I don't think it's fair to label every Biden supporters as being like BLM.

Have all Proud Boys proven themselve to be as you assume? Every one? Or just the vocal ones that make the news? We paint our political enemies with views of the worst of them

How big is your own blind spot if you can't see you are contemporaneously using the same techniques you are critiquing?

Come'on Bug, quick trying to get so damn pedantic. You can do better - really, there's lots of real (dumb) stuff I say that you can attack.

I'm merely comparing one group, which aligns to conservatives, to another group that aligns with progressives.

And, wait - why did you only call me out for the Proud Boys and not BLM - are you toeing the INGO that all BLM is all the same? Did you just do what you accused me of doing? ;)

Are you retconning the last line of that post?

"I don't want others to assume I'm just like the Proud Boys, and I don't think it's fair to label every Biden supporters as being like BLM."

You have most assuredly lumped all Proud Boys into the classification of being undesirable ("I don't want others to assume I'm just like the Proud Boys), and you do so as part of an argument not to generalize perceived undesirable characteristics from an individual to the group. It is internally inconsistent, but I will allow it if you climb down off that high horse intermittently

What progressive wants to discuss things with conservatives? Without yelling racism, sexism or some slur? That doesn't end up trying to shut the conversation down in some fashion when facts go against them? I'm not being snide, I'm actually asking. What I've seen the last few years is that progressives only shut down debate, not that they will actually debate fairly with people who have differing beliefs. Again, I'm specifically talking about progressives, not democrats as a whole or liberals. I've not seen conservatives shut down any debates\discussions. Every instance I've seen or been made aware of were progressive shutting down debate.

In general, I find both of them unsavory.

Nevertheless, I'll have a pint and discuss thing in person with either one.

And my horse ain't that high - I'm a Purdue fan. The high horses have all been rounded up by Buckeyes. ;)

I'm retired, I had a craft IPA with my lunch :p [places hand under chin and waggles fingers in Jetta's general direction] :)

Edit: that was weird, the system interprets a colon followed by a p to be the 'nya nya' emoji, even if those two characters appear at the beginning of a longer word

Wearing a mask should never have been politicized in the first place. It was a CDC recommendation and for whatever reason Trump decided to essentially say you don't need to do this and he said he's not going to do it.

That's just bad leadership. Why on earth would you refute guidelines from your own center for disease control is beyond me.
Why wear a mask its well known they don't work. Unless you have an n95 and change it every 8 hours your little cloth or surgical mask isn't going to work. Mask mandate is stupidity unless everyone has n95.

    I had Dr. Pepper. :(

But, FTR, I'm not prudish and will happily quaff a well made beer at lunch with my wife. She, on the other hand, is afraid of her superiors.
