Hopefully this is the right place for this...Hoosier Burn Camp is an organization dedicated to child burn survivors. Although they hold events for the children year round, their main event is the camp which runs May 25-30th, 2014. One of the skills taught at the camp is rifelry. As you may guess at this point they are short of .22lr ammo. They go through approximately 5,000 rounds and they currently only have half of that. Camp is fast approaching and I'm asking if you are able, to donate ammo to the camp.

Even if you can't donate, I would suggest that you attend their visitors day, which is May 28th this year. You will see visitors from all over the state, including many motorcycle clubs and dozens of fire apparatus. You will also get to see the benefactors of all the donations; the child burn survivors.

If you can donate, please contact me or the camp (I'll include a link to their website and Facebook page). Your help is much appreciated.

Dang. I just found a bulk box. Well, I think they need it more than I do.
Put me down for a box of 222 rounds and a box of 325 rounds.

So far, I might be off. So I might be able to help if they need it.
But, we're going to lose guy at work, so I'm not sure of my schedule once that happens.

Thanks so much! I ride my motorcycle down every year. They have a ride (and you don't have to be on a bike) which starts at Crown Point FD that morning, police and fire escorted.

I hoping to go this year, but we might be having a week long outage that week...wouldn't want to miss a solid week of 16's!

How would I get some ammo to the right place?

There are a couple of possibilities... someone from your area could be on staff or a participant, or your local fire dept is sending someone, either way they could take it to camp with them. If you are interested in donating, I can find out.

I squirreled away 3--525 count federal champ .22lr a year and a half ago. Thought I would keep them forever; but I'll donate 2 of them for a good cause. Perhaps in a couple of days or so you can list a few known drop-off points.

UP, you may do well to make a formal request from one of the ammo manufacturers. I was just informed that Camp Tecumseh received 25,000 rounds last year when they asked.

Today is a good day. I been reading that 22 flipper thread here (the topic always makes my blood boil) and guess what I've found at the local WM today, a brick of feral 22. I would like to donate it to the cause. I'm way down here in the south, how can I get it up there to you?

    UnionPmedic,

Do you know if anyone tried to contact the manufacturers? I sent an e-mail to Mark Koopman today asking. I also said that I would see to it, if unsuccessful with CCI, Remington, Federal or Winchester, that I would round up at least 2,000 rounds.

I do not know if they contacted any manufacturers, but will try and find out.

How would I get some ammo to the right place?

If you are in Northwest Indiana, you can drop them off to me at Blythes's Sports Shop, and I'll give them to my local Hoosier Burn Camp contact, we donated some just a few days ago, would be great to get many more rounds to the kids.

Thanks SadClown, yes you did indeed get us some donated from Blythe's. Considering your open times, it might work well to have this as a drop point, or they can drop it at my law office... PM me for drops...
Thanks all for the donations, we (and the kids) appreciate it !!!!...
