yep they made a lot of people with that choice. pissed right on the whole community. started handing out black berets like challenge coins for showing up to work.

the black berets were actually used by Armor and the Armored Cavs before the Rangers got them.

Black berets belong to the 75th Ranger Regt. And as goofy as they look, I thought it was cool that the 101st wore the c u next tuesday cap with the parachutist/glider badge on it when I was there.

In the mid 70's at Ft Hood TX, 1st Cav wore black berets, 2nd AD wore leaf pattern camo, stetsons were worn in some units, medical, aviation, signal, many had different colored ball caps, it was a funky time. The ABN lost their maroon berets for a while too.................... things CHANGE thats what happens. Fifty years from now, no bodies going to care. Oh yea nice tune.
