One advantage homeowners normally have over the intruders is the knowing where the good hiding places and vantage points are. Intruders are usually in an unfamiliar space.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. :)

Gee whiz. I wonder when CNN 's gonna pick this up and shout to the mountains about this American hero and his trusty black rifle? (crickets)..... (tumbleweed blows by in a lonesome desert breeze)... (coyotes howl in the distance)..... Nobody? No one? Buhler? Buhler?

+1 on the homeowner... I wouldn't have batted an eye at unloading 30 rounds at him though...

Keep firing until the threat is gone. That may be 1 shot. That may be 10 shots. It's hard to say. But I think, based one what I see here, the homeowner could have easily been killed after he scored his one and only hit on the bad guy. If the bad guy has the ability to run away, he has the ability to charge you and kill you. Just food for thought.

Its your house. You already have to deal with blood...not to mention drywall and wall repair.

I've got insurance... no problem, could use some new drywall and paint... insert purple where necessary and convenient.
