The male intruder, who was armed with a gun and was carrying zip ties and a walkie-talkie, was crawling through a baby’s bedroom window when he was shot.

South side of Indy just after noon. Thankfully there was an armed and aware homeowner. Never happens, huh Shannon?

bad thing is. if she really did have that sign on the front porch, she will probably get a law suit against her for having it. im sure some one will say she was just itching to shoot some poor intruder that wasn't hurting any one.

IIRC, Indiana's castle doctrine statutes include immunity. All the homeowner needs to prove is that the assailant was in the home unlawfully with a reasonable belief that the intruder intended to commit a crime.

Glad she was prepared, willing and able to defend herself and child. Sad to see that she had to shoot someone but hopefully this just makes one less idiot to worry about down the road.

It appears that immunity only applies to criminal charges, as-written.

This. As reported by Fox59 and from IMPD it's unusual to see that kind of activity in that area. Target hardening includes not advertising to the world what you have for them to take. That sign is cool in the garage or man cave, but front porch? Pass.

As far as the civil liability, you better believe that several attorneys have already sent the suspect flowers at the hospital and are offering their services.
