I agree the headline is about as bad as it gets. So in other words, if the guy wasn't homeless, would the headline read: "Owner of $250,000 home slain trying to steal SUV"? Does it really matter?

Oh wait, this is the IndyStar we are talking about. Never mind.

The shooters should get a medal and a steak dinner. Look how much money they just saved the taxpayers. No court costs for the surely dozens of times this guy would have been arrested and then released early.

I get sick of the PC term "homeless".
"Homeless" is somebody who through unfortunate circumstances is TEMPORARILY without a place to live, but is scrambling to get back on track and get a place to live.

"BUMS" is what the great majority of the so-called "homeless" are, because they live on the streets as a lifestyle, live by their "wits" and are making NO honest effort to get back on track.

Our society has gotten pretty pathetic when it's not PC to call a bum a bum...

I prefer the term "Urban Outdoors-man"

"Urban outdoors man" is a good description... LOL

Something I need to add to this post in 1980-81, I used to walk through the neighborhood where this shooting happened, in fact RIGHT by where it happened.
Most EVERY day, at least one bum would ask me for spare change, or whether I'd loan him some money for cigarettes, etc.
NONE of these bums I encountered were people I considered "homeless", but instead were people who lived this way by choice.
