Maybe it has wondered off course slightly, a little, well OK but it got Hi-jacked about a third of the way through. Most posts are still concerning home invasion and defense, well, sort of. Mine are, sort of.
love this pic...stealing it
To say I am anti gun would be to say I have suggested people should not own guns. To say I am anti CC would be to say I have suggested people not carry concealed. Yet I have suggested neither at all. Coupled with the fact I am a gun owner who carrys concealed....makes it even less logical.
That makes the conclusion that I am "anti-gun" and "anti-cc" much stranger than anything I have suggested because there is at least some truth in me saying that "some (not all) people who feel the need to be strapped 24/7/365 are hair trigger nutjobs".
An exception is perhaps if someone can outline a method for quantifying risk, and after that it's a personal choice. Would you carry a gun in the house for a 1 in 10 chance of home invasion? Yes, I would, and most of you probably would, too. How about 1 in a billion? Most of us probably wouldn't. But where we draw the line in between these two extremes is up to the individual. This has to do with psychology, right?
Does driving around all day with a spare tire, jack, spare windshield wiper fluid make you a car-nut. Or just prepared.
Does having a smoke alarm, fire extinguisher, emergency lighting in your home make you a fire-nut. Or just prepared.
Some people who walk around with a weapon may be nuts but I am just prepared. In the event i come across one of those nuts that decide to kick down my door i will be prepared and not wondering where my pistol is because hey its on the coffee table right where it always is, or hey its on the night stand where it always is, or hey its on my hip where it always is. Depending on where i am i know where my weapon is.

The problem with that reply is that you imply i am somehow less than responsible by owning and having a loaded firearm in my home, but choosing not to "John Wayne" it around the house like I need it in less than 1 second.

You imply that walking around the house strapped is "more responsible". To that I say absolutely not. It's unnecessary unless you live in an area that dictates it. .
...there is always a convenient example to support any bias, we all know that.....but for every one example of where carrying on one's person around their own home would have made a difference, I am certain I can show you a thousand people who live their entire life without a gun ever, and never have any need for one.....so you have to take extreme situations with a grain of salt.
...... The odds are, now that that has happened to that guy once, it will never happen again because it never happens at all for most people. Just trying to be realistic here.
