We are pretty short sighted to think this is about oil. The single biggest food price increase is the ridiculous ethanol program forced upon us by the government. That is designed to make us poorer and more people dependent on a socialist government in order to empower more socialists to demand votes. The destruction of any source of domestic oil it not simply about oil, but money and power. As long as we need opec, we have to ship about 500-600 million dollars a DAY to arab countries. That money does not come back here.....ever....with the exception of buying our politicians. As long as we stay involved in arab designed wars, we will continue to waste millions of dollars a day with war games. Oil and energy are simply tools to weaken the USA to the point we will not have any way to resist becoming subservant to a world domination regime. Debit is a powerful tool.

IMHO, about the best we can hope for if this actually comes to pass is that it'll come back to bite the "Ohvomit" regime in the @ss -HARD!- come November.

Do you actually pay attention to what 3 of the 4 Republicans say? 3 out of 4 of them aren't any better than Barry O and 2 are easily worse. I'm definitely a Barry O fan but I find it pretty funny when people act like Newt/Mitt/Santorum would be much different than him.

Lugar is a big "alternative energy" guy and was pushing for $5/gal gasoline floor as to make "alternative energy" economically viable.

I remember back in the days of the Richard Nixon declared "oil crisis" when the oil companies said it wasn't economically feasible to drill for oil when oil was only $6 a barrel.

Other than the current government blocking new drilling, with oil at around $100, why the heck aren't the oil companies screaming to do new drilling right here???

Oh wait, I remember, Bush and company were "oil people", obama-messiah and his minions don't make a profit off of oil... yeah right!

Drill here, refine here, and tell the Arabs to drown in their oil!

Oil is drilled here. So much so, that we use 50% of it, and the other 50% is exported. Why would they sell it to us if they can make more selling it to Europe etc?

None of them are worse than Obama. None.

I can only name one Dem that is even CLOSE to being as bad as Obama is...and that would be Jimmy Carter...but I think Obama still holds the title....

    That's completely false.

180 million registered voters in 2008
    69.4 million for Obama 38.5%
    59.9 million for McCain 33.3%
    50.7 million for neither 28.1%

I should have said 52% of VOTING Americans voted for him. Which means there are a lot of stupid people in this country. And from the numbers you posted, there are a lot of apathetic people too that aren't much better.

not that i like to see this but if someone in the u.s. wanted to buy 1/3 stake they surely could have... where is buffet when you need him?? OH yeah - lobbying the government to make him and other zillionaires pay higher taxes. I'd rather he keep his tax money and buy U.S. companies and employ U.S. workers who in turn can make higher salaries and pay more taxes!! Hey - there is an idea - capitalism!!!!! Rich start companies, workers make money, government get's taxes, infrastructure is built/maintained, armies are supplied, borders are protected... Oh wait - that dream died in the 50s...:(

I have a problem in that the "news organizations...aka LSM" (lame street media) have not connected anything to the fact that the current administration and their policies have contributed greatly to skyrocketing costs of fuel. Ann Compton said on national news there is nothing the president can do.

Yet they all pointed fingers at Bush when he was in office, you know...because he was in bed with big oil.

It's evident that there is a mass mental illness when the media is making excuses for the president of the United States. Pure and simple sickness. Must be a brain slug going around.

Oil is a commodity. It's worth the same everywhere.

We export oil for a variety of reasons. As far as I know, all or almost all of it goes to Canada because some Canadian refineries are closer than U.S. refineries. Also, a closer refinery might be at capacity, so it might make sense to ship it elsewhere.

We might technically sell some oil in other countries, but it's not actual oil leaving our shores and traveling across the world, it's all on paper and they'll collect the actual oil from wherever it's closest or cheapest to get it from.

Again, it's a commodity so it doesn't matter where you get it, it matters how much you put into the system or take out of the system.
