I am a lifelong Hoosier and firearms owner. I recently learned of this site from a coworker. Due to the attacks on the 2nd Amendment I feel we must all become involved in local and national groups that support our freedoms. Although Indiana has supported these freedoms, we must remain vigilant and wary.
My fondest memory is as a young teenager my Grandfather giving me his 12 gage 870 Wingmaster. He and my father was an early teen and he took me out to the farm to instruct me on my “new” firearm. I was told he only used 3” shells in the gun and that he felt this was crucial to the maintenance of the gun. After shooting five shells at stationary targets I thanked them and was ready to leave. My Grandfather looked at me with a smile and said “no, you need to shoot the whole box to get accustomed to the gun”. This was not the generosity I believed it to be but was just my family’s twisted sense of humor as I was unable to move my arm the next day. I guess that’s the price I had to pay to inherit Granddad’s gun. I now look back fondly at him laughing at me all the way home.
I am very excited to be a part of this group of likeminded individuals.
