It sounds to me like your wife is a 'spite shopper'....i have one of those as well, and it makes buying a new gun twice as expensive. She always wants to know how much the gun costs, and therefore she gets to spend that much on whatever she wants. Sometimes this comes in handy when roles are reversed as well...let her go out and buy some purses, and then you get to spend that much towards whatever you like. This method recently got me a new safe!
There are a lot of them. When my brother bought a motorcycle a long time ago his wife got a whole new living room suite.

Now ask yourself, do any of those people know people who are garbage? The garbage will come and steal your guns and of course your friends will be the ones who tell them you own guns, when, where and for how long you will be on vacation and of course where you live.

I trusted my kids. Never expected less than good behaviour from them and got it. I trusted their friends also because I knew most of them personally, and I trusted my kid's judgement in picking friends. But I didn't trust my kid's friend's friends. I didn't know them, and had no reason to trust them.

The cousin your SO tells about your guns may be as pure as the driven snow. But the person who works in the cubical next to them may be a junkie who needs to steal to replenish his habit. And if her cousin mentions, "oh, yeah, I know a guy who has one of those" then you're now set up for a big hurt.

I'm not saying the contact/location info is 100% correct but you're posting this on an open internet board. It took me 30 seconds to find your house. Do you live near a HS & a park? Maybe I can call you and find out. 317-xxx-xx83? :D

No you are not wrong, or paranoid ..... just need to help her understand, that the more people know, then more people will know ... and owning such "things" CAN make YOU and YOURS, a TARGET ..... just sit and talk calmly, and let her know, that "YOUR COLLECTION", is a "wanted" item on the "streets", and YOU want her and the kids to be "safe" ..... :twocents:

    Totally agree. +1

Some women fear guns, especially black guns, like others fear snakes. Maybe she talks to others about guns in order to find an ally against them (you).

To me, a gun purchase is like buying a security system. It is not like buying a Michael Jordan rookie card or some other hobby collectible. Plus a wise gun purchase maintains most of its value, unlike shoes, clothes, purses, etc.

Not really similar in my house, but I understand what you mean. The whole point of concealed is to not advertise. Maybe comparing it to flashing $100's or something else she would "get"?

I'd ask her what is really bothering her. It almost sounds like she is on the fence about the whole "gun" thing, so is feeling out the reactions of others.

I'd ask her what is really bothering her.

It might not be about guns at all. Time for some deep discussions with a referee.

She reacted strongly to your chastising her so maybe she feels like she is not being listened to in the first place and is giving you payback without even realizing it by advertising something that makes you uncomfortable.

I appoligize if it has already been covered, but she may be getting mad because she thinks you think her friend may steal it. I always explain that, it's not your friend I worry about, it's that she may not know not to mention it and then her boyfriend's friend who is not so honest gets a bad idea.

Not that I own any guns, but my wife would never disclose that kind of information. We are very guarded about who knows about our possessions.

Meh, I had that conversation with my wife, although in this case, it was HER doing the advertising about her own gun. Now that the novelty of her first handgun has worn off she's chilled a lot.

    Sit down with her and make a list of all the people you know that are;

Addicts (especially medical professionals, not just street trash)
    Convicted criminals
    Criminals
    Abusers
    Cheaters
    Tax Cheats AKA CPA's
    Attorneys

Are you married yet or just SO's?

If you need specific stories, I am sure we can provide them for you.

Would she post on facebook lists, pictures and locations of expensive diamonds? She may be naive about guns, their value and uses. Explain Fast and Furious to her as well.

Nope not married, just SO. Its a mutual agreement that it has worked as is for 11 years so why change it now. And I spend money on her too. This summer I bought her a platinum/ diamond ring with some cash that I had been saving for my next toy purchase.

And to the guy that thinks he has my location, yea your so smart, you think I would post my actual info in my profile? Come on. I live nowhere near a highschool, or a park. Lol.

I just let the Other half read all of the above and she found most of it amusing. She said that she wants to start her own user I'd and join the fun on ingo.

It's already been said .... it's not about guns, maybe it's about money, could be more ... could be less.

I'll bet you're young. Time teaches you to hammer these things out when the waters are calm. Middle of the storm isn't the time to do hull maintenance. You'll figure it out if you love each other ... just don't let things simmer (talking about her). :)

"You know I am a private person, can you just let me tell people I am comfortable with in my own time? Now, here is a box with something shiny in it, and no, your mother still can not have a key to the house"

You may or may not want to edit that.
