The only reason ALL employer based plans are not being dropped is because Obama postponed that for one year. The good news is that when the other 90% of us receive cancellation notices next year, and have to purchase new plans at triple current costs, it will be election season! :patriot:

    CBO: Insurance Cancellations Just Beginning

So if there is a lot of outrage over current cancellation now, next year will be a windfall for Republicans. Obama can't keep granting extensions because these are the people he needs to FORCE into the more expensive system in order to pay for those who don't work.

    REPEAL AND REPLACE!!!!!

Yep. The other shoe is going to drop next year. My premiums have already almost doubled in the last three years. Thanks Obama.

I think my insurance already switched to Obamacare standards in advance--if not, I'm going to really be hurting next year! Our premiums doubled, and our prescriptions and office visits now have like a $2,000 out of pocket minimum before they will pay a dime. All in all, about a 75-100% increase over last year I'd say. If they double again next year then the equivalent of half my salary will go for insurance.

"They" have been prepping for change for a long time; they are counting on it. Everything they do is toward that goal. The changes in my lifetime, and especially in the last 10 years, have taken away some of our rights. They had to start slow because we would have shut them down. Now things are beginning to escalate. Obama doesn't appear to be having a good time right now, but his administration has made a lot of progress. They will just install another puppet and continue with their agenda.

He wants it fail so he can implement single payer full on gov controlled healthcare. Then once they force everybody on it and get them dependent on it they can hold the American people at ransom and get want they want from the people or they will just shut off healthcare altogether.

When I use this calculator http://kff.org/interactive/subsidy-calculator/, the cost for an individual plan for my daughter, 27, goes from about $158 (with dental)
to either $0 for a Bronze plan or $90 (w/o dental) for a silver plan with a subsidy. This is based on a yearly income of 20K. I think her current private plan is considered a silver equivalent. Anthem said 3 weeks ago that she could extend her current plan for another year if she wanted, but would not be eligible for a subsidy. The Gumm'nt plan has a lower deductible and covers more stuff. This depends on how accurate the K-calculator is. If you think gumm'nt subsidies are socialist, then this is not fer you. Instead of me paying for her insurance alone, all you good folks are throwing in. Thanks!
BTW, my Co. based plan costs more every few years as well and is subsidized by my salary. The reason I'm using this calculator is that I don't need to fill out tons of info to get an estimate.

No wonder the country is going to hell.

Tell me again, why I should have to pay for you having sex?

If you can't afford to take care of your own children you should not have had them.

I pay for my own. If you want her to have better insurance open your wallet and pay for that **** yourself.

    O...kay Popeye.

I don't think everyone is totally against subsisdies or Medicaid. The problem is the huge government beurocracy and takeover of our insurance system. The beaurocracy alone probably costs more than it would have to just give free insurance to everyone making under $20k. It seems like their goal is more to bankrupt the country and punish the working people than to help the poor. A simple tax raise could've helped the poor get subsidies. Instead, we are all going to be paying through the roof prices just to create more government leach jobs. The lack of efficiency is intolerable. They could have also created laws forcing insurers to offer better plans or to allow pre-existing conditions without all the beaurocracy. Why they chose to make this two thousand page monstrousity a law is mind boggling. That is why I say reapeal and replace. It wouldn't be that hard to strip out about 1980 pages of this rotten law and to keep the few good parts.

This is what you get when a polarized committee has to agree on a plan. Many things were compromised before it was put to a vote. It's pretty much a private enterprise (insurance co's) with the gov't setting up exchanges and minimum requirements as I understand it. I'm not sure I'm totally for subsidies unless it's a zero sum game or cost less. I'm not sure either of those might happen. It does tickle me though to have PrintCraft support my progeny.....

Wrong. This is what you get when people get the impression that largesse comes from "the government" instead of the work of their own hands. The federal government has far overstepped its authority and has trampled on at least many people's First Amendment rights in setting up the mandatory requirements for healthcare insurance. This abomination of a "law" should have been killed stillborn, but it IS a good example of what happens when socialists get control of the reins of government. LONG LIVE A DEAD-LOCKED CONGRESS!!!!

If, by "polarized committee" you mean the far left Democrats making the bill in secret isolation, and then passing it while they controlled both Houses, the I agree. Republicans have zero stake in this game. They had zero input, did not vote for it, and knew it was a POS from the very beginning. I don't think a lot of people have thought about that yet--that Republicans were right for opposing it the whole time, shutting down the government, etc. Hopefully it will occur to them before the 2014 elections.

Remember the stink over 17% of government workers being furloughed during the government shutdown? Remember how big of a stink liberals made over that? I heard that equated to about 200,000 workers. All those workers were going to get paid all along, even though they didn't have to work for a few weeks, and their checks may have been on hold. Compare that to Obamacare, where FIVE MILLION (and once the delays expire next year, practically every American who works) insurance holders who have permanently lost their insurance, and now must pay double for things they don't need. These people will be losing a significant amount of income, which will affect their lifestyle permanently. Government workers whined for three weeks, boohoo. We would have been much better off as a nation if the government stayed permanently "closed" than to take Obamacare.

There were many compromises given to repubs hoping to get them onboard, but in the end they bailed.
It was the repubs who were getting slammed for shutting the gov't that insisted the furloughed fed workers should be paid. That made me chuckle. Hey, it's enough to make me a libertarian. Almost.

Yep, This whole health care thing to cover the non tax paying, welfare recipients (citizens or not) is crazy. The young folks are the ones who will determine if this thing works or not. My guess is the average young college grad with 50k in student loans and a new car will have a job making about 40k or less will opt out since he has no assets. If he/she has no dependents, why worry with a high rate and a 2k deductible. An illness that will bankrupt your already bankrupt situation will be covered by Medicaid. Medicaid will cover those who have a catastrophic illnesses. So the un-insured will still be un-insured. The folks my age will just pay more cause we have $16 dollars in our wallet. Its a tax. Call it a tax.
