The wife and I are thinking of driving down to the Belterra Casino in southern Indiana and it's about 5hr drive .
I know I cannot carry on the boat ( casino ) , and that they have to have a secure storage for patrons that are carrying .
My question is have you ever checked your gun at a casino , and what would be the proper way of doing so , without any type of Hype being made ?

I really don't like not being armed while driving that far from my home and would like your advice and opinions please .

I can think of only two options. A secure locking case in your vehicle that bolts to the floor pan. Or a call to the security office in advance to inquire about check in procedures.:twocents:

I don't know about Belterra, but from what I have heard at Casino Aztar in Evasnville their "secure storage" consists of a "safe deposit box" at the hotel front desk.

I work at the Horseshoe casino ..

All you have to do is tell the security officer at the turnstiles you need to check your weapon ...they have a lock box there at the turnstiles ...

they check your ID give you a ticket (same as at the valet) .
when you leave you give them the ticket , the give you back your firearm ..

don't know about the other casino's here in southern indiana . but you can see the lock boxes made into the wall at the turnstiles at the horseshoe ..:ingo:

    p.s.

Before anyone ask ..They check pretty much everyones ID not just if your checking a firearm ...
Unless your an old dude like me ....lol

Do not leave your weapon in your vehicle at Indiana Live Casino in Fairland. I get the local paper daily and I would say there are at least three vehicle break ins weekly there. I believe that some real professionals target casino lots.

I carried into Indiana LIVE!, asked about check, and they made me take it back to the car. Rather than raise a stink about it, I did.

YES Beltera has a locked storage place for your gun or any other item you want locked up that fits... I know for a fact that Beltera, Horsehoe and French Lick have them.. I use them..

Wanna check mine at the French Lick casino. Left my H&K P7 in the vehicle last week.

Just haven't witnessed anyone else doing so, and I haven't noticed any storage facilities near turnstiles. Guess I'll ask.

After the shooting outside Aztar about a month ago I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving mine in the car. Sad to admit it but I knew the shooter, not someone I associate with regularly, just a ex co-worker from the restaurant business. On a side note is french lick considered a "riverboat casino" isn't more like a "pondboat casino"?

They have done away with the "boat" pretext; no more fake smokestacks, paddle wheels, or pilothouse, and even the little moat is gone.

It is now styled to resemble "The Brown." A long gone hotel and casino from the olden days..............It is a land based casino, nothing more.
