OK, reason for using the term "license" instead of "permit"
1. The word on the pink slip is "license"
2. We here infer the word "permit" as the state allowing us to carry out of the goodness of their heart. In reality, IN is a "must issue" state, just like with driver's licenses.

YES, this, as long as you apply B4, the original, expires, then you are supposed to be able to carry, using the old one, and the app., for the new one.... GtG ..... AFAIK, IANAL .....

It only takes 7-10 days after finger prints and dropping off your $50 at your local police or sheriff department. My wife's permit was at the house in 5 days.

In IL. You have to have a gun owners card to even buy ammo. A state that doesn't issue any gun permits / licenses

I do not know if they recently passed a registration law, but based on what 2 Illinois residents told me they are required to register each firearm they have with the State Police
