I use a 44 handi for deer and it works well. But had to go through different types of ammo before I found the one it likes. It doesnt like corbon or hornady, but shoots great with the winchester white box 240gr "hunting" loads sold at walmart. I have a bushnell 2-7 scope on mine and can shoot 2" groups at 100 yds with wwb

If you are going to use this for deer hunting, it should be accurate enough and have plenty of power to cleanly kill a deer at 100 yds or so. The gun does not need to be that accurate for deer hunting. Think about it, at 100 yds, in the field, 3-4 moa is plenty good. Tack driving accuracy and a huge scope are just not necessary for deer hunting with a 44 mag at reasonable distances. I'd put a fixed 2.5x or 4x scope on it.

I just tried some 300gr Hornadys. It loved 'em! I was putting them right on top of eachother at 100yds. Glad I found its favorite food.
