I never negotiate anything on a vehicle. Never enter a dealership until the deal is made either.
I sit in my comfy chair, with a beverage of choice, and do my shopping.
I present my OTD price that I'm willing to pay and either they accept or decline. There are other dealers.
I want to see their beady eyes…

Understand that at least the current generation of tags, they still need to be changed manually. They are using “digital ink” tech that doesn’t require juice to run like the lcd in your watch. You apply current to the display to make it say what you want and it stays that way until you energize it again.

My favorite is waiting until I’m sitting in the finance office to tell them I have my own financing. After sales has marked it down thinking they still have the commissions they get from their lenders to make up for the markdowns.

Then their beady little eyes get angry. Lol

My step father bought all of his cars that way.. He would ask two or three times to the dealer money man, this is the price of the car Right?
And then pull his checkbook out.
On occasion he would say, they go into orbit.
Myself, I haven't bought a new car/truck since 84. I let someone before me take the beating.

I drive my cars into the ground. I’ll buy new only if they have 0% financing.

At 0% the monthly payment is very close to the 2-3 yo car with interest.

Now if I turned cars every 3-4 years, sure. Buy used.
