    I would be interested in figuring the numbers on electrical failure from weather, it's the main thing I prep for.

    I just did some googling trying to find some data, but I didn't have much luck. If it were readily available (probably is), we'd want the number of power outages over maybe the last 20 years or annually for the last 20 years. I don't think numbers prior to that would be applicable to the state of the power grid the the loads drawn from it today. We do know that summer time is the worst both because of storms and because usage is higher (air conditioning is a major factor), so you'd probably want to also estimate probabilities for each major season if the data had dates attached to it. I think this is a case where the numbers would actually be a useful predictor.

    Some years back I had friends from Frankfort Indiana tell me about an ice storm that stopped their power for weeks.
