I was waiting at the firearms counter to buy a safe. The guy next to me was trying to sell a rifle to Gander. The clerk told him he would not be able to give him a very good price on the gun and he would be best off to sale it online.
The guy turns to me and says " you want to buy a gun?"
I take a look at it, and its an older Marlin 336 30-30.
All the cash I had on me was $125. The clerk told him the he could not do much better than $125 and it would be more time and paper work.
I got a new safe and a nice old rifle. It was a good day.
I looked it up when I got home. It was manufactured in 1978.
I hate you, just kiddin'.
Gotta love it when deals like that fall in your lap. Did you buy a lottery ticket on the way home?
Brilliant.
Next time just wear a sandwich board that says "Whatever the guy at the counter says he'll give you, I'll beat it!"
I wonder how soon it would be before you were escorted off the premises.
I'm a gonna let you in on a trade secret. If you can find one of those super rare and custom "Tapco" stocks for that there SKS and install it, you would have yourself an easy $500-$600 gun on Armslist. Make sure you put in the selling title the words "tactical", "custom", or "rare". People will go nuts, I guarantee it!Closest I came to being in the right spot was about 20 yrs. ago. I was just about to enter a pawn shop and a guy came out carrying a noriinco sks. I asked if he just bought it and he said no he was trying to sell it, but they weren't interested in military type rifles. I offered him $60 and I still have it today.
Cool!!! That is my trick...hang out til new widows bring in dead hubby's old guns. Listen close by and up the offer when employee goes to back room for transaction papers. Bought 3 guns like that so far.
