Good dash cam?

Does anyone know where I can get a hold of dash camera system like the ones law enforcement uses that is an affordable price? I have tried out a few of the ones on eBay that around $70 that used a SD card, but they find they die pretty fast. The one i currently have I have to dismount and put it in my glove box because it gets too hot in the sun and wont turn on till it cools down. I am willing to dish out the extra cash for a good quality one, but am not sure what is out there.
