Ill be working in Ohio ( cleavland ) area soon and id feel better with some form of protection. Since i cant legally carry my pistol i was wondering about my shotgun. Mossberg 500 18" w/ pistol grip. My question is does anyone know if ohio allows this? Thanks

I live close to the Ohio border & have relatives over there. I'm in & out of Ohio on a regular basis & grew up next door in Williams County. No loaded firearms in your vehicle. Long guns must be broken down if possible. Action open & unloaded if it can't be broken down. Walking down the street with a shotgun slung over your shoulder in Cleveland? On 30Nov12, Cleveland police fired 137 rounds at 2 people they THOUGHT had a firearm, hitting the unarmed man 23 times and the unarmed woman 24 times. No thank you. I'd probably break the law & conceal & get out of Ohio as soon as I could.

Not going to help you for this trip but I would recommend getting a VA, UT, FL or AZ non-resident carry license.

Ohio allows open carry without permit. That being said when you get into car gun has to be unloaded placed in trunk. but, it does give you option when not in car

This is not intended to feed the OC vs. CC trolls, but open carry in Cleveland without an Ohio (or recognized) license seems like a bad idea to me. CC without a recognized license seems risky too.
