Sharpshooter
I don't think all used GLOCKs can be sold for nearly new prices. As others have mentioned, the 40 S&W has certainly declined in popularity or popular taste recently, so those models depreciate a bit more normally. The 9mm GLOCKs sure hold their value though. To me, it's a $500-ish gun that should last you a life time with minimal need for care, parts can easily and inexpensively be purchased and swapped, and the reputation for reliability is at the top of the heap for an auto loader. How isn't that worth $500? Seems like a hell of a bargain to me. Sure, similar models sell for less but an XD is darn heavy for its size (and surprisingly have never found their way into LEO hands, not that I've seen) and I am still not very trusting of the M&P line as they were maligned with feeding issues with they first appeared (right around the time I was buying my first GLOCK) and I had an M&P Shield that jammed more than all of my other guns combined. Ever. I didn't trust it. Had to sell it. And, after all, GLOCK just has brand name recognition. People might not know any thing else, but they recognize the name GLOCK and know it means "guns".
In summary, my 0.02:
Reliable
Minimal care
Life time of use
Brand recognition
Now someone stop me from buying a G17 LEO trade-in for $300! Want. So. Bad.....
