I think you should probably re-read what I said. I was talking about having to pay a "reasonable" fee to have a NICS check when selling a gun... and we ALL jump through the NICS hoops when we buy a gun from a LGS... so you're already WILLINGLY accepting the "infringement" of a background check anyway. I'm not sure if you guys read what your stepping in. The UBC stops you from selling to a private party without a criminal background check.

First off, the gov't has no business telling me who to sell my stuff to, PERIOD.

2nd: If the gov't wants to limit or stop sales, all they have to do is STOP the mandated background check system. Did you manage to think of that?

and 3rd: Background checks are basically worthless to start with.

If we are going to mandate them for all gun purchases, then lets mandate them for all teachers, politicians, and ministers.

Is it possible that a government plant is among us to troll us into making rash statements which can be used against us.

A quick question for all the obama and the other socialist political supporters and voters.

How do you vote for someone that wants to limit your freedoms?

You look at the screen in the voting booth and ask yourself which candidate is going to do the least amount of damage. Make no mistake Romney was just as much into limiting freedoms as Obama is made out to be. The only difference is that Romney only said so when he thought the cameras were off.

obama has no respect for the Constitution in regard to the 2nd Amendment.

Why do you believe he would have any regard for another part of it that you hold dear when it no longer serves his purpose?

Because the notion of "his purpose" is an illusion. This country is built on a system of checks and balances. On a regular basis the balance of power shifts in DC. They're called elections. Anything Obama wants to do needs to pass through two houses of congress and be able to withstand judicial scrutiny. He's not king and what he says in front of a TV camera does not magically become the law of the land. Obama got one thing done in his first term. Barely. Obamacare. That's not really a track record of stunning success. I imagine he will be just as impotent in his second term.

He swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.
Clearly, he is not doing that.
How do you reconcile that in your mind?

I remind myself that the Constitution was created by the framers to be amendable. That this country continues to be the most successful ongoing experiment in freedom and plurality that the world has ever known. And that the voice of the people is not always the voice of God.

I also remind myself that every president I've been alive to witness experiences failures and scandals and is hated by about half of the voting public.

    Yet the republic survives.

What I am tired of is former Ron Paul supporters-turned-Gary Johnson-Libertarians, who always want to jump on both Dems AND Repubs....simply to stir the pot on INGO.

    Give it a break, dude!

ETA- honadylnl, bro... by evidence of your own posts here on INGO, you've been swimming in the cesspool of political negativism for over a year now (at least). It's time to come up for air, man.

It's the finger pointers like this that got folks like Donnelly elected across the country. They cannot grasp that their foolish decision to throw away votes that could have been in our favor elected libs that will diminish our rights. Not only is an AWB a real possibility due to their action, so are other real life changing issues. This can happen in numerous ways including some that could be effectively permanent such as Supreme Court Justices.

They'll still blame the only folks who can come close to sustaining our rights all the while alienating everyone with their harsh behavior. Anyone who might consider their alternative is only put off by this rudeness along with their failure to field a candidate that could actually be elected.
