Left a meeting in town this evening and stopped off at the local Valero for a soda and candy bar for the wife and son. I had on jeans and one of my old Army PT shirts. I was open carrying my CZ. When I walked up to the counter, there was a woman around 50-55 years old running the register.
She looked at my CZ and smiled. She said, "I like seeing guys like you in here that are armed. It makes me feel safer. We get some strange, scary people in here "
Most people in our small community never give handgun carriers a second glance but it is still nice to have positive encounters.

This is the best post I have read on this forum in quite a while. It's nice to see someone in the public sector who "gets it" and actually "thanks" someone who bothers to carry a gun. She is obviously able to tell the good guys from the bad guys.:yesway: If you happen to see this woman again please tell her that you posted her comment and that she is very much respected and appreciated.

Similar interaction for me with a local attendant here on the southside of Indy. I go and see her from time to time to get a midnight snack and she appreciates the fact I keep her safe throughout my short stay.

Last "encounter" I had in town, the wife and I finished dinner at a local pizza place and while I was waiting to pay the bill at the register, an old guy was looking at my handgun. When he made eye, he nodded approvingly and said, "It doesn't do you any good if your gun is at home when you need it, does it?"
